Two Baltimore City rowhomes are available to buy or to rent, and three new guides are up on the site: Maryland closing costs by county, DC's TOPA law, and Prince George's County homebuyer assistance.
Two Baltimore homes, each for sale or for rent
Both homes are listed with Long & Foster Real Estate, and each one can be bought or rented.
- 3009 McElderry St, Baltimore, MD 21205: an interior row/townhouse in Baltimore City with 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath. For sale at $194,900 (Bright MLS # MDBA2220598) or for rent at $1,700/month (Bright MLS # MDBA2227206).
- 555 Presstman St, Baltimore, MD 21217: an interior row/townhouse in Baltimore City with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 1 half bath. For sale at $319,900 (Bright MLS # MDBA2220596) or for rent at $2,500/month (Bright MLS # MDBA2227312).
Three new guides
- Maryland closing costs by county: every sale pays a 0.5% state transfer tax plus a county transfer tax and a county recordation tax, and by law buyer and seller split them equally unless the contract says otherwise. For a first-time Maryland buyer, the state transfer tax drops to 0.25% and the seller pays all of it.
- DC TOPA explained: since 2018 most single-family homes and single rented condo units are exempt from the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act, except for qualifying elderly tenants and tenants with a disability. If you are buying a tenant-occupied DC property, ask for the TOPA paperwork before you are under contract.
- Prince George's County homebuyer assistance: Pathway to Purchase offers eligible first-time buyers up to $50,000 for down payment and closing costs as a 0% deferred loan, anywhere in the county, with household income at or below 80% of area median income.
