DC homebuyer programs: HPAP (up to $202,000 in down payment help plus up to $4,000 for closing costs), DC Open Doors (3% or 3.5% assistance, repeat buyers OK), DC4ME and EAHP for DC government employees.

DC closing taxes: buyers pay recordation tax and sellers pay transfer tax (1.1% under $400,000, 1.45% at $400,000 or more). Qualifying first-time buyers pay a reduced 0.725% recordation tax on homes up to $777,000.
